1. Establish a quote

We offer a range of cost-effective transportation solutions to suit all your shipping needs. We'll work to understand your requirements ahead of time and then establish a quote, so you won't get any surprises on your invoice.

2. Establish credit

Before your goods are shipped, you need to secure credit with our credit department. Obtaining credit, maintaining your account in good standing and ensuring your continued credit worthiness are the best ways to ensure your goods are shipped on time. Without credit, shipments must be paid for in cash before they're moved. We reserve the right to cancel previously-issued credit at any time, at our discretion. 

3. Onboarding information session

At CP, we value our customers and we understand that doing business with a new transportation partner can be both challenging and time consuming.  In order to ensure your first shipment with us is a success we have an onboarding team to guide you along the way from setting up an account with our Finance team to tracking and tracing your shipment on CP's Customer Station. Our onboarding team will work directly with you and your Account Manager to ensure everything is set up correctly in our systems and that you and your team have the training to successfully manage your shipments with CP.

We use a comprehensive onboarding checklist to have a clear understanding of your needs, to clarify CP service offerings and tariff items, and to identify your equipment, facility and reporting requirements to name a few. We are also available to existing customers who are adding new facilities, new shipping lanes or need refresher training

Instantly access the information you need to manage your shipments including:
  • shipment tracing and reporting
  • submit electronic shipping instructions
  • request empty railcar equipment placements and releases
  • diversions
