Serena Ryder and The Trews will headline a star-studded CP ‘Holiday Train at Home’ concert to raise food, money and awareness for people who struggle with hunger
CP will donate $1.24 million this year to 201 food banks in communities that ordinarily host CP Holiday Train events bringing the total amount of money raised at CP Holiday Train stops to $19.05 million since the train's inception in 1999. Food banks have also collected 4.8 million pounds of food donations at local Holiday Train events.
"For more than two decades, the CP family has supported Canadians and Americans in need through the CP Holiday Train program," said CP President and CEO Keith Creel. "In a year full of challenge and loss, we will host this concert as a call to action for the train's supporters to donate generously if they can this Christmas season. The spirit of the Holiday Train will come alive even though the train itself will not operate due to the COVID-19 pandemic."
Join us and watch the live premiere concert 'Holiday Train at Home' on CP's Facebook page on December 12 at 6 p.m. MT, and if you can, please give a little bit to support those in need!
We'll be posting the final concert details on our social channels in the coming weeks so make sure you stay tuned to @CanadianPacific for the latest updates.
?Serena Ryder and The Trews are headlining CP's 2020 "Holiday Train at Home" concert with special guests JoJo Mason, Logan Staats and Kelly Prescott.
Serena Ryder is an artist adored by fans, peers and critics alike, in part due to her raw and earnest songwriting, and beautifully electric live performances. She has received numerous accolades, including six prestigious JUNO Awards, a MuchMusic Video Award for Stompa, and a Canadian Screen Award for Achievement in Music – Original Song.
"I'm so excited to be part of the virtual CP Holiday Train this year, helping raise awareness and funds for local food banks in this time of extraordinary need."
With multiple radio hits drawn from six scorching studio albums plus several EPs, a pair of live records, and a retrospective, The Trews are among the most prolific, electrifying, and innovative rock bands on the planet, a fact corroborated by onetime stage-mates the Rolling Stones, Weezer, and Bruce Springsteen.
"We are honoured to be part of the annual CP Holiday Train. It may be virtual this year, but the concert will still bring joy and music to people across North America and raise food, money and awareness for people who struggle with hunger. We’re proud to be able to help by doing what we love and to be working with the fine folks at Canadian Pacific once again."
Where JoJo Mason shines brightest is in showcasing the dynamic, relatable layers of relationships through his sparkling vocals and larger than life, vibrant personality, and he is more than happy to continue providing the soundtrack for love in all capacities.
"Proud doesn't begin to describe how I feel to be a part of the CP Holiday Train. During a crazy time, CP is still delivering to food banks and supporting communities across the country and I'm honoured that I get to play a small part in this incredible movement."
From a young age, Logan's haunting and distinct voice has won him multiple opportunities to share the stage with acts like Buffy Sainte-Marie, Keith Secola and Mumford and Sons, to name a few. Forever a student of great music, Staats enjoys jamming, collaborating and learning from his contemporaries and other recording artists.
"Shekon! (Say-go!). Logan Staats here! Just wanted to say how thrilled I am to be part of CP's Holiday Train event this year. It's going to be an amazing event with some amazing musicians and we'll be supporting food banks across North America. So don't miss it, tune in December 12 at 6 p.m. MT. "
Kelly Prescott comes by her music in the most honest way possible, as a third generation singer/songwriter on both sides of her family. She grew up between a tour bus and a world class recording studio, her childhood steeped in traditional country music.
"I know we're all heartbroken that we can't be together this year but I applaud CP for their commitment to safety while still bringing joy and music to all of their Holiday Train fans. This virtual concert will raise money, food and awareness for food banks across North America. The need is greater than ever, so let's all come together virtually to help out our neighbours in need."
This year, we'll be supporting online donations through Food Banks Canada and
Feeding America, the national organizations that support community food banks in the U.S. and Canada. We also encourage you to donate to your local food bank or pantry.
